Why Titanium Bolt Do Not Rust?
2024-02-04 15:34:15

Rust is an oxidation reaction, but titanium metal is very inactive, it is difficult to oxidize anyway, so titanium metal rust is very slow, titanium alloy can remain as new for tens of thousands of years.

Titanium is considered a rare metal because it is dispersed in nature and difficult to extract. But it is relatively abundant, ranking tenth among all elements.

Titanium ores are mainly ilmenite and rutile, widely distributed in the crust and lithosphere. Titanium is also present in almost all living things, rocks, water and soil. The extraction of titanium from primary ores requires either the Crohl or Hunter processes. The most common compound of titanium is titanium dioxide, which can be used to make white pigments. Other compounds include titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4).

With the feature of  ultra-light, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature resistance, non-magnetic non-toxic, titanium bolts are widely used in aviation, medical, military, chemical, ocean engineering, energy, food processing, automotive, motorcycle, bicycle, sports etc.

Common used titanium bolt material: Titanium grade 2 / titanium grade 5 / titanium grade 7
